Meet Your PTA Committee

The first preparatory meeting of the All 4 Medlock PTA was on Thursday February 5th, at which it was confirmed that the following team would make up the initial Steering Committee for the inaugural year of the Association:

Chairperson
Mia Quayle
Mia is a former Medlock pupil and mother of Charlie, who is currently in Year 5. Mia has a varied professional background, including sales, marketing and business promotions but a change of direction around 3 years ago led her to a new career as a freelance Funeral Celebrant. Mia has managed a number of small and medium-sized businesses and has also taught drama to 5-18 year-olds after gaining an Honours Degree at theatre school in Manchester in 2000. Mia is a practising Christian and attends a Baptist church in Gorton where she is the Children's Work Coordinator.

Vice Chair
Senyonga Fokum
Senyonga is mother of 2 children, an ex-Medlock pupil and Ruby, currently in Year 5 at Medlock. She holds an LL.B Hons Law Degree and a Post Grad. Diploma in Project Management from the University of Manchester. She has been an Activity Organiser in various Elderly and Care homes in and around Manchester, held a full time post at MMU for 6 years within Management Accounts as Project Admin and later as Grants Development Coordinator within Research, Enterprise & Development.

Secretary
Manar Mohamed
Manar is a qualified Engineering Interior Designer, originally from Sudan. Having previously lived and worked in Dubai and London for some time, she and her young family have lived in Manchester for 2 years. Manar is currently seeking freelance work in the region and is mum to Ibrahim Yousif in Y2. Manar gained several years' experience in interior design and creative work for a number of companies in United Arab Emirates for 3 years. She also successfully completed a Customer Service course at Manchester College 2013.

Treasurer
Selma Awadallah
Selma is a qualified electrical engineer, originally from Sudan. She studied for her Masters degree here in the UK in 2009 and took her PhD at the University of Manchester, gaining her qualification in 2014. She is also a Research Fellow at the University until the end of this year.
Her children Yousra and Ahmed are in Foundation1 and Y3. She likes to communicate science and engineering to young people and hence volunteers in many outreach activities organised by the University of Manchester. She is also a STEM ambassador with Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.
